2019

Toledano strengthens its position as a Latin American company.

In 2019, Pronaca became the majority shareholder of Toledano in Panama. Together, we have combined our knowledge, values, and commitment to feeding this great country.

2020

The social franchises of the Child Nutrition Network are inaugurated.

We have 4 social franchises of the Child Nutrition Network – REDNI, where we work with nearly 300 families to preserve the brain development of children who will be the great future of Ecuador.

Lease and purchase of Productivos de Avesca.

Purchase of Natural Heaven.

Purchase of La Europea.

2007

Pronaca celebrates 50 years in operation.

2008

The first sustainability report is published in 2010.

Even before the existence of environmental regulations for companies in Ecuador, Pronaca began to produce sustainability reports, an activity that has been the guide to becoming a national benchmark.

2010

The brand ProCat is born (cat food product)

2011

Creation of the first Pet Food Research and Development Center in Latin America.

Research and development play a fundamental role at Pronaca, which is why in 2011 we set up the first research and development centre for pet food in Latin America.

2012

New Production Plants in Panama.

With the aim of continuing to grow with the country by offering innovation based on cutting-edge technology, construction begins on the new facilities that will consolidate us as one of the leading companies in the Panamanian agricultural sector.

1997

Launch of ready-to-heat frozen products

Mr. Cook Frozen products become part of an innovative portfolio, responding to the new needs of a dynamic market.

The San Juan de Bucay school is created in 2005 the San Pedro del Valle Hermoso schoo

The San Luis Foundation was established to provide quality education to the children of employees in rural areas such as Bucay and Santo Domingo, and has become a local benchmark. Today, several of its graduates have won scholarships abroad and some are already working at Pronaca.

2000

Growth and diversification continued with the construction of the Durán industrial complex and the launch of the Pronaca brand

Procan is the pioneering brand in pet food. Today it is an icon in the category, where we currently have several brands for both dogs and cats.

2000

The Clean Development Mechanism is created.

2002

Mr Fish starts marketing tilapia in the local market.

A new variety of protein is added to the portfolio. Mr. Fish enters the market and today plays an important role in the daily life of Ecuadorian families.

2003

Pronaca acquires the PLUMROSE sausage plant.

1986

With the launch of Gustadina, the diversification of other foods begins.

Gustadina marks an important path of diversification, demonstrating that entrepreneurial spirit that characterizes us.

1990

Start of operations in Bucay (breeding farms, incubator and poultry processing plant).

The growing demand for our poultry products leads us to make new investments, this time in farms and the processing plant in Bucay.

1990

Inaexpo is created for the production and export of cultivated palm hearts.

Ecuador is an agricultural country and is a world leader in the export of bananas and shrimp. Pronaca began a new adventure with the production and export of cultivated palm hearts. Today we are world leaders in this sector, exporting to 20 countries.

1992

Mr. Chancho, the first brand of pork in Ecuador, is launched and the FRIMACA production plant is opened.

Following the path of innovation, Pronaca is revolutionising the consumer market for animal protein, and pork in particular, with the Mr. Chancho brand. The launch of a healthy option with a variety of cuts positions us as “The Pork of Ecuador”.

1993

Value Added Plant in Panama.

In response to the growing demand for products that adapt to the changing lifestyles of Panamanian consumers, a Value Added Plant is opened and, since its launch, it has been dedicated to the production of a wide range of products.

1994

The sausage plant is inaugurated in PIFO.

Diversification continues, this time towards meat products such as sausages. Currently the Plumrose brand of sausages stands out.

1974

Indaves is set up with the aim of producing eggs.

1975

Installation of the “Granada” poultry farm (Puembo).

1979

Mr Pollo Pronaca is set up and the brand is introduced.

Pronaca launches the Mr. Pollo brand, changing the consumption habits of chicken meat in Ecuador by introducing a safe and healthy product. A milestone is reached in the country’s poultry industry. PRONACA (Procesadora Nacional de Alimentos C.A.) is established.

1980

Inicia producción de alimento balanceado para animales (polvo para aves y galletas para mascotas, Puembo).

Mr. Pavo is born, the first brand to offer processed turkeys.

With the Mr. Pavo brand, a new milestone is reached in the gastronomic habits of Ecuadorian consumers. Christmas and New Year celebrations become characterized by the consumption of healthy and delicious turkey.

1954

Letter from Lodewijk to his son Luis Bakker.

Letter written by Lodewijk Jan Bakker to his son Luis Bakker Jr. inviting him to start a business in Ecuador, where he saw many opportunities in the food sector.

1957

India, the group’s first company, is set up in the downtown area of Quito.

1957

The first chicken egg incubator facility is born in Panama.

The first chicken egg incubator made it possible to increase production by exporting fertile eggs from the United States. A year later, breeding hens were added, which allowed them to produce fertile eggs and continue local livestock production. 

1958

Construction of La Estancia farm in Quito.

Poultry and egg production begins at the La Estancia farm.

Introduction of breeding hens in Panama.

A year later, breeding hens were introduced in Panama, enabling them to produce fertile eggs and thus continue with livestock production locally.

The INCA chick hatching business is born.
